Diesel market share is getting smaller: 20% less market share

Juli 17, 2018

In the first half of 2018, diesel will lose 20% market share compared to the same period in 2017. Diesel and LPG cars have a hard time. Not only in the Netherlands but also in Europe, the sales of diesel cars are sharply decreased.

Gasoline has slightly more market share and the market share of electric cars has doubled in the first half of 2018.

The decline in sales of diesel cars is related to the energy transition.

There were also more passenger cars sold in the first half of 2018 than the first 6 months of 2017.

From the business market there is a lot of interest for the electric car, the leasing companies are flooded with requests for these cars. However, availability is now limited, as is the offer that is currently limited. Due to the high price and the 2 above-mentioned limitations, supply and demand are not seamlessly aligned. And now the gasoline car benefits because there is no good alternative.
